Odor Solutions Underway

Wastewater odors are at their peak during late summer and early fall.  The recent hot and dry weather coupled with our newly-constructed facility improvements have created some odors for the surrounding community.

Fox Metro has a rigorous odor control program including many initiatives to reduce odors.  We are continuing to evaluate and test different solutions to improve the odors.  Some of our recent odor control initiatives include:

• • Installed 2018 — new odor control system at Building K, located at the north-central area of the wastewater treatment plant
  • Installed 2019 — new odor control system at the Reckinger Road Pump Station on the east side of Aurora
  • Starting Construction Today — new odor control system at Building B3, located at the southeast corner of the wastewater treatment plant
  • Ongoing seasonal treatments for odors — hydrogen peroxide at the north headworks, potassium permanganate at the south headworks, and an odor-neutralizing spray at the sludge storage building.
